George Cook, youngest son of Jackson and Docia Ann Cook, was born near Unioville, MO. on Feb. 6, 1884. He died at the Gove County hospital in Quinter on April 1, 1967 at the age of 83.
In 1900 he moved with his mother, sisters and brothers to Gove County, where he resided with his mother for a number of years on the farm she homesteaded southwest of Gove. In later years he resided at Monet, MO., before returning to Gove county n July of 1961.
He had been a resident of the Long Term Care Facility at Quinter the past two years.
Out-of-town relatives here for the funeral, which was held at 2 p.m., were Mr. and Mrs. Glen Loyd and son of Walsh, Colo; Mr. and Mrs. Vess Hutches, Viles, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Emmitt Miller, Hoxie; Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Shipley, Oakley; Mrs. Amil Rebarcheck, Mrs. Louise Litton and Maynard Miller, of Grinnell' Mrs. Blanche Blake and Mr. and Mrs. Milford Cook, Sublette; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hoffenutt and daughter, Dighton, an Mrs. Ruth Trimmer, Wichita.
In early youth he was baptized and joined the Christian church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his two sisters and two brothers, a half-brother and a half-sister. He is survived by a number of relatives,
Services were held at the Gove Methodist Church Monday, with interment in the Gove cemetery. Arrangements were by Don S. Hall Funeral Home.
Pall bearers included Leonard Owens, Gerald Shipley, Howard McDoanld, A.A. Packard, Emery McDonald and Jerry Bretton. Rev. Robert Wood officated.
