Mr. Brown was born in Gainesville, Fl. and was a lifelong resident of Alachua County. Gene served in the United States Army Air Force as a tail gunner aboard a B-24 during the second world war, was shot down over Germany and spent 10 months in a prisoner of war camp in Germany. He was a carpenter and worked as a superintendent for the Triest Construruction Co. in Keystone Heights. He enjoyed the outdoors, espcially fishing and camping and loved to care for his family. Gene was a member of Windsor Baptist Church and taught sunday school for many years. He was preceded in death by his six brothers C.J.,Alfred, Alvin,John,Clark,and Wallace.;
Gene is survived by his wife of 36 years,Dorothy Mouw Brown, his son's Calvin, and Alffred(Sherry)Brown, daughters Ann(Reed)Franklin, Becki Tillman, Rachael Brown, Tracie Montane and Shellie(Tim)Terrell,; 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren,; one sister Annie Laura Davis and two sister-in-law Betty Jo and Helen Brown.
