As a child he moved with his parents to a farm near Exeter, where he grew to manhood. On January 31, 1923, he was united in marriage to Alfrieda Dorothea Franzen of Exeter in St. Stephen’s Catholic church at Exeter.
They made their homes on farms near Exeter and Geneva until 1964, when they retired to their new home in Geneva.
To this union were born four children, Mrs. Evelyn Tumlison of Houston, Tex., Mrs. Darold (Lorene) Richards of York, Donald and Harold of Geneva. He was a loving father and grandfather.
He leaves to mourn his passing his four children, Evelyn, Lorene, Donald and Harold; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leo of Harrisonville, Mo., and Edward of Mablevale, Ark.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alfrieda, on July 18, 1972; by his parents; his brother, Anton; and two sisters, Heinretta Green and Elizabeth, who died in infancy.
He will be greatly missed by his family.
Funeral services were held at St. Joseph’s Catholic church in Geneva at 10 a.m., on August 15, 1977, with Rev. Walter Banach officiating. Interment was at the Geneva cemetery.
Pallbearers were Alvin Kohler, Guy McCurdy, Vernon Dearking, Darrel Hughes, Harlan Domeier, and Ross Johnson.
