John is the 1st of 2 children of John "Walker" Hancock Sr. and Madge Limbocker. He married Clara Bernice "B" Wedum. They were married for 49 years when B passed away. Their children are John Walker Hancock III, Richard Wedum Hancock, Carol Jean Hancock Chiaverini, and Linda Lee Hancock Florie. John was a widower for only a year, before marrying Margaret Johnson Stokker Sesnon (twice widowed herself). He passed away in his sleep on the day of their 10th anniversary. John joined his father in the family business, Hancock Oil, in 1930. He worked his way up to President, until it was sold in 1959 (merged with Signal Oil). John was involved in many Long Beach civic groups including the Masonic Lodge, Rotary, and Boy Scouts. His hobbies were duck-hunting and ham radio. At the time of her burial, this cemetery was known as Sunnyside Memorial Park and Mausoleum.
