Bertha Place, daughter of the late Martha and Fred Place of Alfred, N. Y., died in the Hurlburt Nursing Home, Scottsville, N. Y. on August 17, 1975. Mrs. Davis was the widow of the late Jerome Davis. who was a teacher in the Rochester, N. Y., school. They had lived in Scottsville for forty years. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Carl (Charlotte) Gruschow; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Vars of Kent, Ohio, and Mrs. Margaret P. Laire of Concord, Mass.; one grandson; four great-grandchildren; also, several nieces and nephews. A graveside service was conducted by the Rev. Russell Johnson In the Alfred Rural Cemetery. M.C.
