HARDIN —
Theo A. Worley, 78, of the Hardin community near Pine Bluff died Tuesday.
He was born April 1, 1929, at Marks, Miss., a son of the late Johnnie Noble Worley and Mary Susan Boyd Worley.
He was reared and educated at Marks, Miss.
He served in the Army.
He moved to Pine Bluff in 1950 and worked at the Federal Compress for more than 20 years. He served as operator of the Hardin Water Department prior to his retirement in 1992.
He was a member of Olive Street Baptist Church and the Golden Rule Men's Sunday School Class.
He also was a member of the Hardin Volunteer Fire Department for many years, and served as fire chief for more than 18 years.
Survivors include his wife, Frankie Dale Johnson Worley, whom he married on Jan. 21, 1956, at Sheridan; two daughters, Lisa Worley Hankins of Hardin and Donna Worley Moore of White Hall; one brother, Boyd Worley of Marks; one sister, Rosa Brame of Greenville, Miss.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Worley; and six sisters, Hattie Katherine Worley, Margaret Jamison, Bernice Dancy, Ethel Ferguson, Willie Mae Bowers and Dorothy Hackman.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Olive Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services.
