At the 1st recorded business meeting in the town of Summer Hill, on April 3, 1832, "Jesse Woodward" was elected "Constable and Collector."

After serving in the Revolutionary War, Jesse Woodard "was appointed by Gov. John Jay to serve as ensign of a company militia under Liuet. Col. Com. Solomon King, in Washington County, where he had gone to live after the war. Later he removed to Summer Hill, Cayuga County, N. Y. where he died March 21, 1844."

"His father, Amos Woodward, served in the French Wars on Lake Champlain, and later removed to Cambridge, Washington County, N.Y., then a part of the State of Vermont. Amos Woodward descended from Richard Woodward, who embarked from Ipswich, England, April (date not legible) with his wife and two sons."
