William J. Von Drachek(sic), 72, of 314 Riverview Dr. Manitowoc, died Monday at
Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, and
at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Philip Hoffmann will
officiate with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Von Drachek was born Oct. 1, 1904, at Reedsville, son of the late Charles and
Caroline Pollack Von Drachek. He was a graduate of Oshkosh State Teachers College.
He taught school at New Holstein for two years and at Brodhead for a year. He
was self-employed at Milwaukee before moving to Manitowoc. He married Germaine
Nelson Nov. 27, 1948, at Holy Innocent Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Mr. Von Drachek
wa employed as a machinist at Manitowoc Engineering Co. for 30 years until his
retirement in 1970. He was a member of Machinist Local No. 516 and also a member
of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 710 of Manotowoc.
Survivors include his wife; a stepson, Dr. Robert Nelson, of Milwaukee; a brother,
John, of West Allis; three sisters, Mrs. Lu Charles, of Grimms, Mrs. Giles
(Angeline) Wierman, of Boltonville and Mrs. Jane Rolland, of Reedsville; three
grandchildren, Karen, Christine and Robert Jr.; a great grandson Justin, and
nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday where a
prayer service will be conducted at 8 p.m. by the Knights of Columbus and relatives
and friends.
