MARSHA VONDRACHEK

Car Rolls, Crushes Manitowoc Mother
REEDSVILLE—A 21 year old mother from Manitowoc was killed when the car in
which she was the lone occupant went out of control a half mile east of this
village on Highway 10 about 3:15 a.m. Monday.
Mrs. Marsha Lynn Vondrachek, who had been living with her parents at 736 N.
12th St., at Manitowoc, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Dr. Theodore Teitgen, county coroner, said she died instantly of a skull
fracture and crushing injuries received when the car rolled over her body.
The victim’s destination at the time of the accident was not immediately
known. The coroner said he was trying to contact a woman companion from
Brillion who reportedly was with Mrs. Vondrachek during the night.
Husband Sailing
Mrs. Vondrachek was the mother of a small daughter. Her husband, Ronald, and
her father, Bruce Mikowetz, are employed by the Pittsburgh Steam Division of
U.S. Steel Co. Both were reported to be aboard separate ore carriers somewhere
in the St. Lawrence River.
County traffic police said the eastbound car driven by Mrs. Vondrachek and
registered in her father’s name was out of control for about 1,000 feet. It
finally skidded broadside and overturned along the right ditch, spilling out
the driver and passing over her body. She was found lying next to the car
which came to rest on its wheels in the ditch. The 1957 model Ford sedan was
listed as a total wreck.
The accident was discovered by two young men who notified a neighboring farmer
and then left the scene without identifying themselves..
The former Marsha Lynn Mikowetz was born at Manitowoc March 31, 1943, daughter
of Bruce and Jeanette Sattler Mikowetz. She was graduated from Lincoln High
School, Manitowoc, and had been employed as a practical nurse at Holy Family
Hospital, Manitowoc.
She was married to Ronald Vondrachek at Reedsville April 8, 1961. She was a
member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Manitowoc.
Surviving are her husband and a daughter, (private), her parents, and a sister,
(private), of Manitowoc.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete pending word from the husband and father
and will be announced later by Mittnacht Funeral Home, Manitowoc.
