MR. ELIJAH TENNANT, WHO DIED IN WILLET MAY 15
Eaton Hill, May 21—Mr. Elijah
Tennant passed away Thursday, May
15, at the advanced age of nearly 88
years. He had been quite feeble for
some time, especially so since the
death of his wife March 23, and was
cared for by his son, Elva M. Tennant
and wife of Harford.
Mr. Tennant was born in Willet Oct.
22, 1831, his parents being Robert and
Polly (Eaton) Tennant. During his
long life his home was in Willet and
no man in the entire community was
more highly esteemed than Mr. Tennant.
On May 3, 1852, he was married to
Miss Lucy Fuller of Triangle, who
died only two months ago. On May 3,
1917, Mr. and Mrs. Tennant celebrated
the 65th anniversary of their marriage
on the same farm where they first began
housekeeping, a happy privilege
but few enjoy. Mr. Tennant was the
youngest of a family of twelve children.
He is survived by two sons, Augustus
O. Tennant of Weedsport and Elva
M. Tennant of Harford; six grandchildren
and several great grandchildren;
and one sister, Mrs. Lovantha Greene
of Whitney's Point.
The funeral was held Sunday at the
family home, Rev. Austin Mooney officiating;
burial at the cemetery at
Willet.
