Hugh Larren "Bud" Spence Age 73, of Hacks Point, MD, died November 29, 1999 at his late residence.

Born in Fair Hill, MD on October 10, 1926 he was son of the late Hugh Curtis Spence & Rhyva McCommons Spence. He served in the US Army during WWII in the Philippines. He was Treasurer for Montgomery Mutual and prior Treasurer of Mutual Fire Insurance of Cecil County, retiring in 1982 from Montgomery Mutual. He was a life member of VFW Post 7687 Chesapeake City, MD, a member of Cecil Post 15 American Legion for 43 years, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 851 Cherry Hill, MD, a member of O.U.A.M. Order Denton, Temple Council 3, Denton and Elkton Daughters of America #12. He received honors from Mason Dixon Post 194 American Legion, Rising Sun, MD. He was also a member of A.A.R.P., the Travelers Protective Association of PA and was an associate lifetime member of Cecil County F.O.P. He loved his little dog, Lori. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Ann Reynolds Spence of Hacks Point, MD; a sister, Emily S. Deibert of Ocala, FL; and uncle, Theodore H. Brown of Rising Sun, MD.

Services will be Friday, December 3 at 2 p.m. at GEE FUNERAL HOME, 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD with Rev. Wm. Hemphill & Rev. Wm. Downing officiating. Interment Bethel Cemetery, Chesapeake City, MD. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday after 12 noon. Contributions to Northern Chesapeake Hospice, c/o GEE FUNERAL HOME.
