Mary Kay Smith, 71, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at her summer home “Summer Breeze” in Port Clinton, Ohio. Kay was born in Toledo, Ohio on December 23, 1944 to Clarence and Ellen (Stoner) Bahnsen. In 1962, she graduated from Clay High School where she had been an active member of 4-H. She met her husband Patrick Smith while roller skating at Pearson Park and were united in marriage January 12, 1963. For over forty years, Kay assisted her husband and family in the operation of E. M. Smith & Sons Travel Trailer Sales. For many years, Kay enjoyed camping and traveling throughout the United States with family and friends. Kay enjoyed spending time at the cottage on Lake Erie and riding and cleaning their boat “Hitch Witch II”. In later years, Kay enjoyed wintering in Key West, Florida in their fifth wheel. Kay also enjoyed collecting frogs, snowmobiling, sewing, and fishing in Canada. Her true passion was crocheting with her morning cup of coffee.

Kay is survived by her husband of 53 years, Patrick; son, Craig (Pam) Smith, Michael ( Sarah Zieroff) Smith and Jeffrey ( Lori) Smith; grandson, Cole Smith; sisters, Jane (Charles) Neal, Betty Ten Eyck; brother, Tom (Laurie) Bahnsen; sisters – in –law, Janet (Dean) Davis and Beverly ( Phillip) Hahn; along with many nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and is now reunited with her son, Keith Smith.

Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Monday, August 29, 2016 from 2:00 pm until time of funeral service at 8:00 pm. Private interment will take place in Lake Township Cemetery.
