Joseph's family lived in Tennessee for 17 years. In 1811 the Sitton family, children, grandchildren and relatives went to Missouri Territory. Joseph and Diannah (Beck) Sitton are buried (headstones) in Bryant's Creek Cemetery near Troy, Missouri. This cemetery was located on Missouri County Road "E," east of Silex. Joseph was born in Virginia, but served in the Revolutionary War in
North Carolina according to the North Carolina state record, Volume 7, page 247. However, DAR states he was born in Perquemon Co., NC. He lived in North Carolina, then South Carolina, then Tennessee, for 17 years. In 1816, he moved to Lincoln County, Missouri.
Joseph's tombstone reads: Joseph Sitton, b. Oct 15, 1745; d. Feb 8,1832; NC Regt. Contl. Line. Rev. War. His wife's (Dinnah) information is on his tombstone as well. Her information reads: Consort of Joseph, b. May 14, 1749; d. Feb. 8, 1842.

Joseph Sutton (Sitton) of Virgina was born in 1745. He was in the Revolutionary War and his application for a pension is on file in the National Archives. He lived among the Cherokees in Tenn. as a Indian Trader. Moved in 1816 to Lincoln Co, Missouri.
