RUTTER ROBERT E.
Of North Versailles, formerly of North Huntingdon, age 84, on Thursday, October 22, 2009. Bob was a decorated WWII Army veteran, a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart, the Silver Star Medal and other medals. Bob participated valiantly in 7 campaigns in the First Infantry Division from 1942-1945 and was wounded in 1943. In January 1945 Bob was captured and was a P.O.W. until liberated by allied forces. In 2005, Bob was installed in the Hall of Valor at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall. He was a retired truck driver from the former Cott Bottling Co. in Braddock and also was a retired employee of Myers Furnace Supply Co. in Duquesne. Beloved husband of Pauline (Lelich Sarocky) Rutter for 39 years; father of Christopher Rutter (Kelly) of West Mifflin and the late Robert E. "Moose" Rutter; stepfather of Richard Sarocky (Elaine) of North Huntingdon and Ronald Sarocky (Diane) of Herminie; also survived by 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Friends welcome Saturday 6-8pm; Sunday 2-4 & 6-8pm at PATRICK T. LANIGAN FUNERAL HOME, 700 Linden Ave. East Pittsburgh 412-824-8800.
