Helen F. Robichaud, age 86, a resident of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc, died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at Shady Lane. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 702 State St., Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Dave Hoffman with burial of her cremated remains on Friday at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Helen was born Oct. 10, 1917, in Appleton, daughter of the late Cornelius and Margaret Bauer Heckel. She grew up in Manitowoc, attending Sacred Heart Grade School. Helen graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1936. She married Leonard C. Robichaud on Aug. 31, 1940, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on Aug. 4, 1995. Helen and Leonard lived in Manitowoc until 1975, when they moved to their retirement home at Cedar Lake. After being a Girl Scout during her youth, she became a Girl Scout leader and later served on the Board of Directors. Helen was a past member of the Junior Service League of Manitowoc, member and past president of the Elks Ladies of Manitowoc, past secretary of the Elks Bowling League, past member of Holy Innocents Catholic Church and Holy Innocents Altar Society, and past volunteer (Grey Ladies) at Holy Family Hospital. She enjoyed her bridge clubs and playing in bridge marathons. While residing in Cedar Lake, Helen was active with the Cedar Lake Improvement Association. She moved back to Manitowoc in 1996. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Survivors include one son: Dennis Robichaud and his fiancee, Judy Richardson, of Naples, Fla.; one daughter: Maggie Robichaud of Manitowoc; three grandchildren: Dirk and Jennifer Robichaud, Menom-onee Falls; Denise and Michael Klauck, Kiel; Darcey and Kevin Brinkhoff, Naples, Fla.; seven great-grandchildren: Bailey Robichaud, Kayla, Erica, Melissa and Jason Klauck; Collin and Molly Brinkhoff; one brother and sister-in-law: Fred and Marilyn Heckel, Venice, Fla.; one sister-in-law: Beryl Collins, Hightstown, N.J.; nieces and nephews: Ann and Michael Cornelius; Fritz and Beth Heckel; and special cousin: Audrey Lexander. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband: Leonard; and one brother: Cornelius. The family would appreciate memorials to the American Lung Association or Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, June 17, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 4:30 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc is assisting the Robichaud family.
