From the Files of the Pilot - Twenty-five Years ago (1889)
The oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Rahr, Blanche(sic), died of membranous croup
on Sunday last. A child of sweet disposition who had just reached the age when
children are most interesting has been taken from parents whose sympathies are
ever quick to respond to the affliction of others. Their grief is shared by
many who would willingly endure much that either might be saved from sorrow.
Trials came to all but the innocent child has gone to dreamless rest before
life's troubles were seriously felt.

(From cem. records: The burial register has Blanca Rahr, female, age 2 y,
daughter of Max & Ella Rahr, born in Manitowoc, cause of death: membr. croup,
burial fee $2.)
