nyshistoricnewspapers.org SULLIVAN COUNTY RECORD, Jeffersonville, NY January 8 1942 - page 1 Frank J Pfandler, aged 43 and a bachelor, living with his father, Frank Sr., on the former THomas Crosby farm at Cochecton Center, despondent over ill health, shot himself in the chest with a .32 caliber revolver at his home last Saturday afternoon.
When Harry Schalk, Narrowsburg feed salesman, call at the Pfandler home that morning the victim of his own shooting came out of the house and said, ":Harry, I've shot myself"
Dr VanKueren of Narrowsburg was called
Funeral held from Rasmussen Funeral home, Narrowsburg, burial in Cochecton Center Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Oscar and Carl Mohn, Robert and Karl Grund, Chas. Nober St and Fred DAub
Born in New York, from German parents who moved to Cochecton Center 30 years ago because of the son's poor health. The mother died a number of years ago and the father is the only near relative living. The son had been under treatment at the Middletown stte hospital.
