BROUGHT HERE A SLAVE.

"Auntie" Montgomery, Who Had Lived
Here Nearly Fifty Years, Died
Yesterday of Old Age.


Mrs. Annie Montgomery, 85 years old, died yesterday at her home, corner of Second and Locust streets, of old age. "Auntie" Montgomery, as she was called, was brought to Kansas City as a slave nearly fifty years ago.

She was owned by a steamboat captain and took care of his home, near where she died, until she was freed during the war. She was a member of St. Mary's Tabernacle lodge, No. 333. The funeral will be conducted from her late home Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Union cemetery.
