William McCaw and his family were part of a large group of Presbyterians who followed an emigration to South Carolina, starting around 1771. He was granted 250 acres on Bull Run, Chester, South Carolina; in the bounds of what would become Purity Presbyterian and Hopewell Reformed Presbyterian churches. Here William and Anna raised their children.
In William McCaw's Last Will & Testament; dated April 27th 1796 and Probated on March 1st 1797; William mentions his four sons and four daughters along with his beloved wife, Ann. He appoints his eldest son, John and son-in-law (husband of Elizabeth) Edward L. McDaniel co-Executors to administer his estate.
