Gary Hilton Koon, was a World War II Veteran and a retired employee of the South Carolina State Highway Department. He was a Maintenance Worker IV in the Richland County maintenance shop. He retired June 30 after 11 years of Department Service. He passed away less than two months after his retirement.
At one point in life, he was a Sales Representative for Public Savings Life Insurance Company in Columbia, SC.
He and his second wife, Anna D Koon, were introducted by a mutual friend in June of 1969 and married one month later!
He was a member of Living Baptist Church in West Columbia, SC. He loved to sing and he sang in the choir. He was a very good tenor singer.
His favorite phrase was "WELL GLORY" and is inscribed on his tombstone.
