Andrew J. Hobby Jr., 85, of Greenock, died Thursday, April 19, 2012. He was born June 7, 1926, in McKeesport, the son of the late Andrew J. Hobby Sr. and Frances M. Hopton Hobby. Andy was a member of Greenock United Methodist Church and was also a 50 year member of East McKeesport Lodge No. 765 F&AM. He was a life member and past Grand Tall Cedar and drill instructor of Al-O-Mon Forest No. 138 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, past chief ranger and past supreme director of Region 6 Tall Cedars of North America. He was also a drill team instructor for Rainbow Girls Assembly No. 7 in McKeesport and was a 60 year member of the Gen. Smedley Butler American Legion Post 701 in White Oak. He was past president of All American Judges and was a former member of the Pennsylvania Federation of Contest Judges and the National Judges. He received the Grand Cross of Colors from Rainbow for Girls and was co-owner of the Cadets of Elizabeth Township Drill Team. Andy was an Army veteran of World War II serving with the 112th Regimental Combat Team. He was retired from the engineering department of Westinghouse Airbrake after 41 and a half years of service and, after retirement, he worked for Kirk Livery Service in Pittsburgh for 20 years. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack and Albert; and sisters, Minvera and Betty.
