Served as a Member of the Indiana State House of Representatives from 1826 to 1827, 1831 to 1832, and 1840 to 1841, Member of the Indiana State Senate from 1832 to 1835, Candidate for Delegate to Indiana State Constitutional Convention in 1850, and Delegate to the Democratic National Convention from Indiana in 1856.
