B. J. Fliss, 94, Dies;
Services Held on Monday

Funeral services were held Monday for Benjamin Franklin Fliss, 94, of Spirit Lake who died last Wednesday at Lutheran Hospital in Roanoke, Ind. of a heart attack.

Rites with the Rev. Harold James officiating were at Harpole – Tenold Funeral Home and internment was in Lakeview Cemetery. Pallbearers were Harold Fliss, Jr., Leland Fliss, Dallas Fliss, Greg Fliss, Virgil Fliss, Tom Cumbey.

Benjamin F. Fliss was born June 21, 1875 at Nicholas, Iowa to William F. and Emaline Meisky Fliss. He lived in that area until manhood when he went to Canby, Minn. and later to Milford and Spirit Lake.

On Nov. 15, 1899, he was united in marriage to Mira Hunkins who died shortly after. He then married Pearl Schuneman on Sept. 24, 1904. She died Oct. 2 1967.

Survivors include: five sons, Harold of Canby, Clifford of Atkins, Minn., Clarence of Rochert, Minn., Floyd of Arnolds Park, Frank, Jr. of Spirit Lake; one daughter, Mrs. Fleteher (Erma) Cumbey of Roanoke, Ind,; one brother, George of Milford; three sisters, Mrs. Mollie Fenney of Oakland, Calif., Mrs. Emma Mauss of Whittier, Calif., Mrs. Hattie Adams of Hartley; 25 grandchildren; 45 great-grand-children.
