Regina Dierkes was born in the small farming village of Burlage in Ostfriesland, Germany in 1913, the second child of Kaptain Gerhard Dierkes and Regina Wessels Dierkes. She immigrated to New York at the age of 16. In October of 1931, she married fellow German immigrant August Brinkman. On May 20, 1933, just short of 19 months of marriage, Regina Dirkes Brinkman died of meningitis in the couple's home in the Bronx, NY. She was 20 years old.
