John Crothers, 79, of Lambert, died Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at Quitman County Hospital.

He was born March 30, 1931 in Lambert. He was a retired Field Representative for Mississippi Chemical. He graduated from Mississippi State University. He was also a member of the U. S. Army, the First Baptist Church in Lambert, and a Rotary Club member. Mr. Crothers was a huge baseball fan, and he loved to write editorials on current events.

Mr. Crothers is survived by his wife Phyllis Manning Crothers of Lambert, step-son Randy Craig of Southaven, step-daughter Leslie Hyman of Olive Branch, brother Philip Crothers of Vidalia, La., niece Kay Merrit and her husband Ed of Lyon, Miss., niece Alice Crothers of Vidalia, La., nephews Tim Crothers of Brandon, Miss. and Phillip Crothers of Bon Aqua, Tenn., four step-grandchildren and a host of other family.

He was preceded in death by his son Price Bond Crothers.

Visitation was Thursday, August 5 at Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks.

Funeral were scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, August 6 at First Baptist Church of Lambert in Lambert with the Rev. Don O'Quin and Dr. Laurie Jones officiating. Burial followed in Lambert Cemetery.
