Capt. Harry F. Carlson, 78, of Bayshore Dr., died Monday in a local hospital. He was a native of DuBois, Penn., but spent most of his youth in Sanford, Fla. He attended Georgia Tech for three years studying electrical engineering and enrolled in the Naval Reserve as Electrician 2C before moving to Pensacola in 1919 for aviation training and promotion into the regular Navy. His last duly before retirement in 1947 was in command of NAS Bronson Filed. He was a member of the Warrington Presbyterian Church, Naval Lodge No. 24 F. & A.M., the Order of Quiet Birdmen, the Golden Eagles, the Pensacola Country Club, and the Pensacola Humane Society. For some years he was active in the Pensacola Council Navy League and served as secretary-treasurer and director. Survivors include his widow, Augusta Alexander Carlson of Pensacola; his son, Harry F. Carlson Jr.. of Atlanta. Ga.; two grandchildren.
