Death: Apr. 5, 1903

John W. Cann an old and well known citizen of Tippecanoe county, died at 11:50 o'clock yesterday morning at his late residence, two miles south of Crane. Death was caused by catarrh of the stomach. He had been ill about a week. Mr. Cann was born in Hampshire county, Va., October 4, 1834, and came to this county in 1839. He lived in the place he died since 1857. He was married October 4, 1864, to Miss Rachel DeHart, who survives, with the following children: Mrs. Ella Davis, Thorntown; Curtis and Mort Cann of Stockwell. The deceased commanded, the respect and esteem of the entire community and was an honest and upright citizen. The funeral will be conducted Tuesday morning, the cortege leaving the residence at 10 o'clock. Services will be conducted from the Wildcat Christian church at 111 o'clock by Rev. Franklin Mikels, of Shadeland, and interment in the cemetery adjoining the church. ( Lafayette Call Newspaper, Monday, April 6, 1903)
