Obituary for Betty J. Borchman

Betty J. Borchman, a long-time resident of the Omaha/Council Bluffs area, lost her battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at her home Friday, November 21, 2014, at the age of 80, surrounded by family, friends, and St.. Jude Hospice caregiver, Katrina.

On June 9th, 1934, Betty was born to Elizabeth (Roberts) James and John James at Winside, Neb. Betty had worked at an early age in a chicken plant and then later discovered her love of being a waitress. She spent the rest of her working years as a waitress. She loved serving people, meeting new people and hearing their stories. Betty worked at the Truckers Terminal Café, Eddys Café and Johnny's Café, all in Omaha. She loved her family and friends. Betty would always send cards to celebrate holidays and birthdays. She also had a loving heart for animals no matter if domestic or wild. Betty was one to always feed the outdoor animals such as squirrels, raccoons, birds, opossum and any stray animal that needed a meal. One stray cat she named Muffy was her absolute favorite. She was baptized at the Lutheran Church in Ricketts, Iowa. The pastor that had always had an influence on her is Pastor Buschkemper of Bellevue, Neb.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Syler and John James; her husband, Max Borchman; son, Curtis Roberts; great grandson, Owen Roberts; brothers, Melvin James, Frank James and Merle James; several other family members and dear friends.
