Aileen Lowman Barus



Mrs. Aileen Lowman Barus, 88, of Valdese, N.C. passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, at Carolina Health Care of Icard after a period of declining health.

Mrs. Barus was born April 9, 1920, in Toomsboro, Ga., to the late Charlie H. and Jannie "Ginny" Poteat Lowman.

She was of the Baptist faith and was retired from Alba Waldensian, Inc.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond P. Barus; two grandchildren, Pamela Brown and James Barus; brothers, Will, Edd, Everette and Jack Lowman; and sisters, Bessie Lowman, Beulah Parker, Mae Lowman and Gertrude Barger.

Surviving are her two sons, Ronnie Barus and wife, Lee Ann, Danny Barus and wife, Carolyn, all of Valdese; and three daughters, Margaret Brown and husband, Johnny, and Bobbie McEntire, both, of Valdese, and Linda Wilson and husband, Robey, of Salem. Also surviving are her grandchildren, the Rev. Alan Wilson, Lisa Lowdermilk, Elaine Phillips, Jill Lowman, David Barus, Shana Barus, John Brown Jr., and Wendy Dellinger; great-grandchildren, Ryan Phillips, Derek and Kasey Lowman, Alana Wilson, Brittany Baker, Allie Lowdermilk, Jairus, Jordan and William Brown, Megan Dellinger, Aaron Pittman and Evan Lambert and Garret Barus; two great-great-grandchildren, Kobe Netherly and Aubrey Simmons; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services for Aileen Lowman Barus will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese, with the Rev. Alan Wilson officiating.

Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Valdese.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese.
