Constant Comfort Cole was born to Charles Arkell (1734-1812) and Elizabeth (Betty) Hone (1739-1825), in Churchdown, Gloucestershire, England, before the day of her Baptism on March 10, 1778. Her siblings were Betty, Hester, Charles, Thomas, Sarah, and William Arkell.

Constance Arkell married John Cole (1778- 1859) on June 23, 1801 at Churchdown, Gloucester, England. Together they were parents to Susanna Cole Lacey (1802-1869), Charles (1803-?), John (1807-?), George (1808-1894), Jesse (1810-1853), Joseph (1812-1892), Esther Cole Duncan (1814-1890), Edwin (1820-1898)

Constant Comfort Cole crossed the Atlantic from England aboard the "Mediator" and arrived in the Port of New York on August 29, 1840. She was accompanied by her son Joseph, listed as a shoemaker, and a 4 year old girl named Ann. Also travelling were a number of members of the Arkell family. Constant's maiden name was Arkell. They were enroute to Upper Canada.

She died in 1844, and is buried at Drummond Hill Cemetery in Niagara Falls, Canada.
