MILAN — Emmie M. Blackwell, 91, of Milan, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014, at Illini Restorative Care Center in Silvis. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 5, at Schroder Mortuary in Colona. Visitation will be two hours prior to service time. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Emmie was born Nov. 16, 1922, in Belleview, Ill., the daughter of Charles and Alta Elsie Kaysinger Zumwalt. She married Harry R. Blackwell Nov. 1, 1941, in Clarksville, Mo. He passed away March 18, 1998. Emmie was a member of UAW 1304 and the Milan American Legion Post 569.
Survivors include her son, Harry Blackwell Jr. of Neponset, Ill.; daughter, Joyce Arnold-Jones of Laughlin, Nev.; grandchildren, Lisa Blackwell of East Moline, Michelle Williams of Milan, and Shane Blackwell of Neponset; great-grandchildren, Josephine Williams, Stacey Williams and Dustin Blackwell; great-great-granddaughters, Bella and Emmie; and sister, Gracie Wyatt of Clarksville, Mo. She was preceded in death by her husband; grandchildren, Brian White and Pamela Lough, and a great-grandson, Adam White.
