Services for Helen A. Vaught, 86 of North Zulch, were held 2 p.m., Saturday, May 27 at the Madisonville Funeral Home. Rev. Dean Ferguson officiated. Burial was in the Willowhole Cemetery. Helen was born on July 9, 1919 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to Wasial and Nellie (Zelinka) Zuk and died on Monday, May 22 in Damon. She lived in Madison County for 34 years. She was well known for being a great artist, having painted hundreds of pictures and for being a great musician. She was a lady fiddler having played at many musical events. She also taught herself how to play the piano, organ, violin, guitar and the accordion. Helen worked as a mechanical draftsman for Houston Natural Gas Company. She was an excellent cook and collected rocks and made stain glass windows. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Henry Vaught; brothers, Mike and John Zuk; and sisters, Ann Hora and Mary Zuk. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and James Clark of Damon; grandchildren, Christopher and Rebecca Clark of Corpus Christi, Robert Clark of Arlington; great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Courtney Clark of Corpus Christi; step-children, Bobbie Gail Jeffries of North Zulch, James Michael Vaught of North Zulch, Angela Kay and Greg Franks of Whitney; son-in-law, Michael Jeffries of North Zulch; step-grandchildren, Krista and Jeff Dyer of Bedias, Mika Jeffries of North Zulch, Justin Vaught of North Zulch, Mark Pope of Whitney, Matthew Pope of North Zulch; step-great-grandchildren, Tyler Vaught and Zack Dyer; sister-in-law, Annie Vaught Houston of North Zulch; nephews and nieces, Joey Hora of Groton, NY, Ava Sunell and Nancy Bainbridge of Baltimore, MD, Robbie and Dorothy Tadlock of North Zulch, Tommie Tadlock of Midway, Jackie and Barbara Tadlock of Montevillo, AL, and Billie Jean Collie of Gonzales. Pallbearers were Tommie Tadlock, James Spencer, Michael Jeffries, Justin Vaught, Charles Drake, Jr. and Robert Clark. Honorary pallbearers were Robbie Tadlock, Otis Jones and Robbie May.
