Services for Earl D. Zimmerman, 89, of Palestine will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Houston National Cemetery in Houston with Dr. Ron Sloan officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey and Foster Funeral Home Palestine.

Mr. Zimmerman died Wednesday, Mar. 26, 2008, in the Cartmell Home for Aged. He was born June 25, 1918 to August and Viola Staley Zimmerman in Riverview, Ohio.

Mr. Zimmerman retired as major from the U.S Air Force after 29 years of service. After his retirement he worked for civil service. He was a member of the Lone Pine Baptist Church. He taught Sunday School at Cartmell Home for Aged for 15 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Minnie Irene Coen Zimmerman; sisters, Carolyn Pettitte and Birdie Marsh; and brother, August Zimmerman Jr.

Mr. Zimmerman is survived by daughters, Donna Orr of Gilbertsville, Ky., Cheryl Sloan of Palestine, Michele Tyndall of North Carolina and Janelle Pennington of Richlands, N.C.; sisters, Ella Mae Fields of Palm Bay, Fla. and Ann Bowe of Toledo, Ohio; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bailey and Foster Funeral Home.
