Ida was baptized November 12, 1914, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Luana, by Pastor Westenberger, and confirmed April 13, 1930, by Reverend H.P. Kumpf. She received her education at Luana Consolidated School, graduating in May of 1932.
Ida was united in marriage to Lawrence Herman Baade on October 12, 1935, in Luana. To this union, one daughter was born, Jean Ann. While they farmed in the Luana area, Ida boarded school teachers in their home for several years, and enjoyed cooking for them and developed many friendships.
When Ida and Lawrence retired to Monona in 1979, they transferred their church membership from St. John's Lutheran Church in Luana, to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Monona. Ida was a member of the choir in both churches and enjoyed singing for many years. She was also an active member of the women of the church, enjoying the companionship of her church sisters.
Ida loved sharing good times with family and friends. She especially enjoyed holidays with family. She loved sending cards and letters to family members and friends and keeping in touch by telephone.
In 2000, Ida moved from her home in Monona to Walter Schmidt Assisted Living (where she lived) until transferring to Prairie Maison in 2006.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Vern and Emma Zieman; her husband, Lawrence, who died in 1987; a sister, Phyllis Zieman Chiappe; two brothers, Curtis Zieman and Kermit Zieman; and her sister-in-law, Marie Zieman.
Surviving is her daughter, Jean Ann Grafenberg, Branson, MO: two grandchildren, Matthew (Gina) Grafenberg, Fayetteville, NC and Megan (Darren) Williams, Two Harbors, MN; two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Maggie Grafenberg; her brother-in-law, Raymond Chiappe, Winnetka, IL; six nieces, Sharon (John) Forssman, Diane (Frank) Sudol, Cynthia (Harvey) Block, Kathy (Glen) Meisner, Robin (Doug) Bernhard, Susan (Dave) Schwarz and one nephew, Robert (Jody) Chiappe.
