MURPHYSBORO — Alma L. Andress, 83, passed away at 8:55 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2016, in Herrin Hospital.

Alma was born Jan. 4, 1933, in Murphysboro, to John Henry Ziegler and Martha (Rodewald) Ziegler.

Alma graduated from Murphysboro Township High School with the Class of 1951.

She had worked as a floor lady at the former Calcrest Factory in Murphysboro.

Mrs. Andress was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Murphysboro.

Alma married Ralph E. Andress on Jan. 4, 1958, in Murphysboro, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 2011.

She is survived by two sons and their wives Paul and Teresa Andress of Denton, Texas, and Gary and Amanda Andress of Pittsburg; five grandchildren, Payton Andress, P. J. Andress, Gabriel Wayne Andress, Wade Linkin Andress and Charles Edward Andress; and one brother, Harry Ziegler of Murphysboro.

She was preceded in death by three brothers Ruben, Leo and Lawrence Andress; two sisters, Amanda Todd and Lydia Lee, one half sister Edna Schade; and her parents.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29, in Pettett Funeral Home, with the Rev. Josemon Hoem officiating. After the services, her body will be cremated. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
