Mrs. Crawford had been ill for several years and would vacation at Eureka Springs, Ark. in hopes of improving her health. Six weeks prior to her death, with little hopes of improving, she traveled to Chicago where she entered Dowie's Home of Zion, a noted health retreat. She died at the retreat October 7, 1901 and was buried the following day in nearby Zion City. Her interment is listed in "Lake Mound Cemetery" a publication of the Zion Genealogical Society.

Two children preceded her in death, Maud and Maymie.
