Local legend with golfing community, Edgar M. "Ed" York, 92, of Groves, Texas died Monday. Ed was born in Atlanta, Georgia and resided in Groves for 55 years. He retired from Neches Butane as an operator foreman after 30 years of service. He was an avid golfer at Port Groves Golf Course and a United States Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Nell York. Survivors include his daughter, Margie Pitre and husband, Marcus; two grandsons, Eric Pitre, known as Brother Peter of the Community of St. John in Illinois, Adam Pitre and wife, Jill; three great-grandchildren, Kayla, Brooke, and Luke.
