Mrs. Irene P. Yoost, 80, of 0554 N. Forrester Rd., LaPorte, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006, at 9:33 a.m. at LaPorte Hospital.
She was born Oct. 18, 1926, in Chicago to John and Mary (Reekie) Murray, and had lived in the LaPorte area for 55 years, coming from Mississippi (Indianola).
Mrs. Yoost was a homemaker and former owner of Ski Valley in LaPorte. She attended Door Village Methodist Church and was a member of the LaPorte Aero Club, Over 40 Dance Club, LaPorte Yacht Club and Tri Kappa Bridgerama. She was an avid bridge player.
On July 30, 1949, in Chicago, she married Walter K. Yoost, who died March 15, 2005.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Rebecca Sue; one son, Walter M.; and one brother, William Murray.
Surviving are one daughter, Cynthia (Paul) Wilson of Naperville, Ill.; five grandchildren, Brad, Lauren and Ryan Wilson and Walter and Whitney Yoost; two sisters, June Keane of Alsip, Ill., and Bernadette Nichols of Wonder Lake, Ill.; and one brother, John Murray of Oak Lawn, Ill.
There will be a private family graveside service at Door Village Cemetery, LaPorte, with Rev. Jeff Jones officiating. There will be no visitation. Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, is in charge of arrangements.
