TROY Arthur J. Art Yetto Jr., 79, of Troy, died on January 17, 2006 after a long illness. Art died peacefully, surrounded by his family. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Arthur and Marguerite Hunziker Yetto and the devoted husband of Helen Therien Yetto of Troy. Mr. Yetto attended Troy Schools until the age of 17 when he enlisted in the Navy. He served during World War II and spent a good portion of that time on the Island of Mauritai. Art was a skilled carpenter and craftsman and, after returning from the Navy, joined the Carpenters Local 370 and retired after 40 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing all of his life and, upon retirement, especially loved the horses. Opening day at Saratoga was his favorite time of the year. Survivors in addition to his wife include his son, William Yetto and his wife Merlyn of Troy; daughters, Verna Zapp and her husband Paul of Saratoga Springs, Rachel Yetto of Troy and Patricia Davenport and her husband Dale of Waterford; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from St. Patrick's Church where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Private cremation at the Gardner Earl Memorial and burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Waterford. Friends are invited and may call at the Frank P. McDonald & Son Funeral Home, 870 Second Avenue (124th and 125th Streets) in Lansingburgh on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Albany, NY 12205.
