FUNERAL SERVICES FOR ALICE OVERMIRE WERE HELD SATURDAY IN AYRSHIRE
Mrs. Alice R. Overmire of Ayrshire died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at the Ruthven Community Care Center in Ruthven. She was 92.
Funeral services for Mrs. Overmire were held Saturday, Feb. 7, at the United Methodist Church in Ayrshire. The Rev. Ray Stauffer officiated.
Burial was in Rush Lake Cemetery, Curlew. The Ascherl Funeral Home in Emmetsburg was in charge of arrangements.
Honorary bearers were Wayne Stowell, Randy Stowell, Lance Shannon, Nathan Shannon, Kristin Tolbert, Sandy Traeger, Michelle Baxter, Gean Stoulil, Erwin Frye and Eldon Rouse.
Casket bearers were Chad Tolbert, Mike Stowell, Scott Overmire, Clayton Overmire, Julie Berger and Kellie Rodewald.

Alice Rose (Wunder) Overmire was born March 14, 1905, on a farm near Jolley. She graduated from high school in Ware in 1923 and attended Buena Vista College, Storm Lake, for one term and then taught in coutnry schools near Jolley.
On March 12, 1927, Alice and Harry Overmire were married at Laurens. The couple farmed near Ware, Plover and Mallard before moving to Ayrshire in 1947. Mrs. Overmire worked in the hot lunch program at Ayrshire Community School for 21 years. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Ayrshire and the Ladies Circle.
Survivors include four children: James L. and Marilyn Overmire of Mission, Tex., Norma and Jack Stowell of Spirit Lake, Loretta and Marv Shannon of Pocahontas and Eugene and Susan Overmire of North Branch, Minn.; 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Also surviving is a sister, Claire Cox of Fort Dodge.
Mrs. Overmire was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, on Feb. 13, 1978; an infant grandson, Thomas Harry Overmire; two sisters, Lilly Gibson and Martha Frye; and five brothers, Paul, Ed, William, George and John Wunder.
