Janet Lynn (Wroughton) Rowland, was born on May 29, 1962 in Nelson, Nebraska to Richard Dudley and Lorraine Kay(Kelley) Wroughton and passed away at her home in Milford, Nebraska on October 8, 2008 at the age of 46 years, 4 months, 10 days.

Janet was baptized into the Christian faith at an early age. She grew up in Nelson where she was active in school and church activities. She was a 1980 graduate from Nelson High School. Janet received a degree in dental assisting from Southeast Community College and worked at the University of Nebraksa Lincoln College of Dentistry.

Janet was united in marriage to Martin James Rowland on May 19, 1984 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Superior. To this blessed union were born three children, Caitlin, Sean and Trace. Janet enjoyed traveling extensively while her husband served in the Army. She especially liked camping and trips to the Maryland seashore. In 1992, the family moved to Milford and became active participants in community life. Janet returned to school in 1996 to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse, earning her associates degree in 1998 and graduating with honors. She continued to work at Seward Memorial Hospital even after being diagnosed with cancer in 2005. She felt a special bond with the cancer patients with whom she worked. Janet battled cancer courageously and savored life fiercely, becoming an inspiration to her family and friends for the grace with which she lived and died. She was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church in Seward.

Janet was preceded in death by her grandparents and her father-in-law, John P. Rowland.

Janet is survived by her husband Martin J. "Marty" Rowland, Milford; her children, Caitlin "Katie" Rowland, Sean Rowland and Trace Rowland, all of Milford; her parents, Richard and Lorraine Wroughton, Nelson; brothers, Steven & wife Becky Wroughton of rural Eagle, David & wife Marilyn Wroughton of Superior; mother-in-law, Charlotte Rowland of Forest Hill, Maryland; brother-in-law, John M. Rowland and wife Danielle of Chincoteague, VA; sisters-in-law, Valerie Kuester and friend, Robert Lloyd of Baldwin, MD, Stephanie Frohberg and husband Kurt of Forest Hill, MD; nephews and nieces; and a host of friends.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, October 13, 2008 at 10:00 AM from St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church in Seward, Nebraska with Father Rand Langhorst and Father Brad Zitek officiating.

Rosary Prayer Service was held Sunday, October 12, 2008 at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church in Seward.

Divine Mercy Chaplet was held Monday, October 13, 2008 at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church in Seward.

Interment will be in Blue Mound Cemetery, Milford, Nebraska.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Rowland Children's Education Fund.
