Irene W. Ramey, 93, formerly of Mercersburg, passed away on Monday, Nov 30, 2015 at Arbor Terrace, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
Born on Jan 17, 1922 in Taunton, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Jane Coughlan Wrigley.
Irene was a dedicated mother and business partner in her husband, Dr. Donald B. Ramey's veterinary practice. Dr. Ramey died November 06, 1979. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Mercersburg. Former member of Mercersburg Women's Club and Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post #517 also of Mercersburg. While a resident of Mercersburg, Irene was actively involved and supportive in local associations and fund raisers.
Surviving family include a daughter, Donna Ramey Schiffer of Ponte Vedra Beach, two sons, James Michel Ramey of Chambersburg; and Charles William Ramey of Goldvine, VA. Five grandchildren, Michael Ramey of Jacksonville, FL; Robin Keehner and Heather Ramey both of Brooklyn, NY; Danielle Ramey of Chambersburg; Samuel Ramey of Goldvine. Two great grandchildren, Ronan Keehner and Declan Keehner both of Brooklyn. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edmund and Gilbert Wrigley.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec 05, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. Reverend Matthew Hoover will officiate. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. There will be no viewing.
