Ben was called to be at home with the Lord on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 on his 83rd birthday. Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Elbridge Juette and Irene Simmons Wright. A 1952 graduate of Clemson A & M College, he actively served in the U.S. Army for 26 years, including tours in Korea and Vietnam. One of his favorite assignments was teaching military history at Clemson through the ROTC program in the mid 1960s. After retirement from the military, Ben became a realtor and later owned and operated his own real estate company. Ben was also a devoted servant of the Lord, serving as a deacon at Greenlawn Baptist Church. Ben enjoyed gardening, golf, and hunting, being an overall outdoor enthusiast. He also enjoyed spending time in the upstate on the family farm, as well as spending time at the beach. Ben also continued his love for Clemson as an avid Clemson football fan, attending almost every home football game.

Surviving are his wife, Annette Ashley Wright of the home; son, Benjamin C. "Jamie" Wright Jr. (Nancy) of Columbia; daughter, Melanie Wright Stecz (Scott) of Georgetown; five grandchildren, Lauren Wright, Jessica Wright, Carson Stecz, Brandon Stecz, Preston Stecz; brothers, Elbridge J. Wright and Billy H. Wright, both of Belton; and sister, Irene Wright Deason of Abbeville.

The family wishes to thank the many caring doctors and nurses of South Carolina Oncology Associates, and the support team with Regency Hospice.
