Lot Worley, long time and well known carpenter of this city, died at his home here today at 2:45 a. m. following a sudden heart attack suffered while he was on his way to his residence from the downtown business district Saturday afternoon.
Mr. Worley was born near Unionville in Putnam County, Mo., March 3, 1868 and was 76 years, two months and 12 days of age, at the time of his death.
He had lived in Centerville since 1904 and his death comes as a shock and sorrow to a wide circle of friends and relatives.
In death he is survived by his wife, Sarah Worley, and one daughter, Mrs. Edith Sparks, of Kenosha, Wis. He also leaves three stepsons, Raymond Parcel, Jr., Howard Parcel, of Kelso, Wash., and Roy Parcel, of Long View, Wash.
He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Asenith Abbott of Exline. A son Guy, by a former marriage, was a victim of the First World War. The wife who was Eliza Steele died in 1900. It was on October 10, 1907 that he united in marriage with Mrs. Sarah Parcel.
There are 18 stepgrandchildren, 5 step great-grandchildren and two grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are pending word from relatives and will be announced later.

LOT WORLEY

Lot Worley, son of James and Margaret (Harmon) Worley, was born on a farm in Putnam County near Unionville, Mo, on March 3, 1868, and passed away at his home at 632 N. 6th St., Centerville, Ia., Monday, May 15, 1944 at the age of 76 years, 2 months, and 12 days. While his health had been failing the past year, his death was unexpected and followed a heart attack and hemorrhage suffered last Saturday afternoon while he was on his way home from a trip to the business district.
His early years were spent near and around his boyhood home, where he met and married Miss Eliza Steele. To this union was born one son, Guy, who was killed in the first battle of World War I on March 5, 1918, at Badonvillier, France. The young wife and mother died when Guy was but nine months old.
On October 10, 1907, Mr. Worley united in marriage with Mrs. Sarah Parcel of Centerville and to this union one daughter, Edith, now Mrs. Burell Sparks of Kenosha, Wis., was born. Mr. and Mrs. Worley have made Centerville their home for the past 37 years.
Mr. Worley was a carpenter by trade and followed that profession all his life. He was a kind and loving husband and father, a good neighbor and friend, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was of a jovial disposition, a quiet nature, and a patient, home-loving man.
