Les was a Steward in the Royal Navy~Service No:D/LX 508816. He was killed in action whilst serving on Minesweeper H.M.S. Squirrel near Singapore.

He was 39 and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie William Woollcott; husband of Florence Edith Woollcott, of Whitecliff, Gloucestershire. He is remembered on the grave of James John and Alice Woollcott at Romford’s Crow Lane cemetery.
