Bob grew up in West Manchester, Ohio where at the age of 18, he joined their fire department as a volunteer fire fighter. He also was a fire fighter for the Michigan International Speedway and Mid-Ohio race tracks for years. He never gave up his passion for fire fighters and collected and traded patches that dealt with fire/EMS. He would often want to attend fire musters and tour fire fighter museums. Bob also attended Sinclair College where he studied Fire Science Technology.

Bob worked for 26 years as an EMT with the last 15 of that being an advanced EMT in Northern Kentucky, Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus and surrounding areas, including spending 4 months in 1997 in New Hampshire as an EMT before returning to his native Ohio. Bob started his EMT career with North Central Rescue, then moved on to All Ohio Ambulance,Patriot Ambulance, Shoemaker’s, Medic One, and ended his career with Rural Metro when he became medically disabled.

Bob was an avid genealogical researcher and was a member of the First Families of Gallia County as well as the Civil War families of Gallia County.

He also served on the board for the National Trail High School Alumni where he was a 1981 graduate. His other hobby was his business card collection. Bob was a fan of the Cincinnati Cyclones and the Dayton Dragons and often attended their games. One of Bob’s proudest moments growing up was when he won the state competition of the Americanism in Government test sponsored by the American Legion in high school and earned a trip to Washington D.C.

Perhaps though, what he will be most remembered for is his jokes and witticisms. He always tried to make people laugh whenever he could.
