Dorothy M. Woolever, 90, died on September 9, 2012. She was born on January 24, 1922 to Hallie (Swain) and Cornelius Dykstra. She married Frank Woolever on Christmas Day 1945. They raised three children in Des Moines.

As a mother, homemaker, and lifelong artist, Dorothy was a woman of many talents, and had many close lifelong friends.

Her passion for the arts included drawing, pastels, painting, and ceramics. She especially excelled in watercolor paintings and pottery.

Dorothy and Frank were active in First United Methodist Church in Des Moines, IA. They were leaders in the youth groups, and active in the Builders Sunday school class there. Dorothy also started a program that encouraged church members to display their artwork in the church, nurturing spirituality and community.

Children of Dorothy and Frank are Greg (Mary) Woolever of Ankeny, IA, Brian (Liz) Woolever of Urbandale, IA, and Mary (Steve) Shaffer of St. Louis Park, MN. Dorothy and Frank have seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church on Thursday, September 13, 2012, followed by the funeral service there at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Wesley Life Hospice Care.
