Susie is one of 12 children born to James M. Wood and his wife, Margie Armandy GRIZZLE-WOOD.
Susie's sense of humor was legendary. Her memory was phenomenal. She could tell stories of her childhood and include every detail.
She loved to sing gospel songs and enjoyed cooking really big dinners and inviting her family and friends over to eat.
Susie learned to quilt from her mother Margie and from her aunts. When she was a young girl, she often sat with them at an old quilting frame that was mounted on the ceiling. As the ladies quilted, the frame could be lowered and raises and pieces added to the work of art they were creating.
