Elizabeth Wood "Betty" Thompson, 71, widow of Perry Calvin Thompson, of 118 St. Augustine Drive, died May 10, 2001.

Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late James Kelsey and Willie Mae Thomas Wood.

Mrs. Thompson was a retired secretary with Greenville County Schools and a retired bookkeeper with Cochran Jewelry Company. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Choir, the Questers Class, and the United Methodist Women.

Surviving are a daughter, Jan T. Ream, of Greenville; a son, Blake W. Thompson, of Greenville; a sister-in-law, Mary Thompson Padgett; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held today at 11 a.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Wayne Horne officiating. The family will receive friends today from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 7 Shannon Drive, Greenville, SC 29615; or Cancer Society of Greenville County, 113 Mills Avenue, Greenville, SC 29605.-The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive.
