Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Coy will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Holden, with the the pastor, the Rev. Burl Gray, officiating. A quartet, Mrs. William Carter, Mrs. William Terry, Jr., Mrs. Vernon Ridenhour and Mrs. Hooker Williams, Jr. accompanied by Mrs. G. V. Redford, will sing, "Beyond the Sunset," and "In the Sweet Bye and Bye." Pall bearers will be grandsons, Ernest Simmermon, Rodney Simmermon, David Mertell, Troy Mertell, Wayne Mertell and Arthur Coy. Burial will be in the Holden Cemetery.

Bertha Coy was born April 4, 1870 in St. Louis. She was the daughter of Ernest Frederick and Elisa Dietrich Wolf. She came to Johnson County with her parents when a small child and spent most of her life in the Holden community. She was married to A.E.C. Coy, January 15, 1890 in Holden and they were parents of three sons and four daughters.

Mrs. Coy was a member of the Holden Baptist Church since childhood and was active in church work as long as her health permitted. She died Monday, October 19 at the Independence Sanitarium.

Mrs. Coy was preceded in death by her husband in 1938. Survivors are three sons, Charles W. Coy, Lyman, Nebraska; Ira D. Coy, Kansas City; and Ernest Coy of Weslaco, Texas; four daughters, Mrs. Esther Mae Hale and Mrs. Syble E. Mertell, Independence; Mrs. Anna Hightower, St. Louis and Mrs. Bertha Jane Simmermon, Holden, a sister, Miss Anna Wolf, Holden; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
